Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders to help patients communicate and swallow safely
- Complete thorough patient documentation, including initial evaluations, plans of care, progress notes, and discharge summaries
- Contact insurance companies to verify benefits and support care planning
- Prepare for and conduct evaluation and treatment sessions with compassion and clinical expertise
- Provide clear education and recommendations to nurses, physicians, dietitians, and food service staff
- Create and deliver in-service presentations and educational opportunities for clinical teams
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare providers to deliver patient-centered care
- Support patient navigation, make reminder calls, and maintain clean treatment spaces to enhance patient experience
Qualifications
- Proven ability to assess and treat speech, language, and swallowing/dysphagia disorders
- Strong clinical documentation and treatment planning skills
- Comfortable communicating recommendations to nursing, physicians, and other care team members
- Experience creating and presenting in-service trainings or staff education
- Willingness to perform patient reminder calls, basic treatment-room cleaning, and assist with patient navigation
