Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based ICU nursing care for trauma, burn and surgical patients in a 30-bed unit
• Manage complex critical-care tasks including wound care, EVD management and participation in MTPs
• Monitor and interpret patient status using critical care equipment and escalate changes promptly
• Document care accurately in the Meditech EMR and ensure smooth handoffs between shifts
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and execute individualized patient plans
• Support unit workflows and contribute to a team-based culture by offering help and asking questions when needed
• Adhere to unit policies, staffing ratios (ICU 2:1, PCU 4:1) and departmental guidelines to maintain patient safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required) — ability to work in Texas or Compact RN preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience; trauma, burn or surgical ICU experience is required
• CCRN certification preferred
• Strong communication skills and critical thinking ability to manage high-acuity patients
• Comfortable using Meditech EMR and operating critical care equipment
• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to float to MSICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU or PCU

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Trauma, Burn and Surgical ICU clinical knowledge
• Critical care equipment operation and troubleshooting
• Wound care techniques and EVD management
• Massive transfusion protocol (MTP) familiarity
• Meditech EMR proficiency
• Excellent communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills
