Speech-Language Pathologist - Inpatient Rehab
Location: Anchorage, AK
Start Date: 06-01-2026
End Date: 08-31-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Clinician's choice: 4x10 day shifts OR Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (5x8 day shifts); day shift, some weekends required (approximately 2 weekend days per month if not part of regular schedule)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing disorders for adult inpatients
- Perform bedside swallow evaluations and conduct/interpret FEES and Modified Barium Swallow Studies as indicated
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care and document thoroughly in Epic
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, PT/OT and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Provide patient and family education, training, and discharge planning to ensure safe transitions
- Utilize evidence-based dysphagia management strategies including compensatory techniques and therapeutic exercises
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain professional competency and certifications
Qualifications
- Active Alaska Speech-Language Pathology license preferred; pending licenses accepted with strong preference for AK license in hand
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of professional SLP experience; Acute Rehab Facility Experience required
- Prefer candidates with acute care experience and competency with FEES and Modified Barium Swallow Studies
- Comfort working with neurological diagnoses including stroke, TBI, spinal cord injuries and ventilator/trach patients
- Willingness to work approximately 2 weekend days per month when not on regular schedule
- Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
Knowledge & Skills
- Dysphagia management and bedside swallow evaluation
- Conducting and interpreting FEES and Modified Barium Swallow Studies
- Experience with Passy Muir valves, trach/vent care and Frazier Free Water Protocol
- Voice, resonance and laryngectomy management skills
- Skilled in documentation: assessment, plan of care, discharge and SLP evaluation coding
- Familiarity with Epic charting system
- Use of adaptive communication devices and augmentative communication strategies
- Patient and family education, in-service training, and interdisciplinary collaboration
