Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care to patients on the K9A Oncology/Women’s Surgical unit
• Administer and monitor IV chemotherapy safely, following unit protocols and safety checks
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate changes in condition to the care team
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized patient plans
• Assist with unit procedures as needed (e.g., thoracentesis support, echo prep, occasional pelvic exams)
• Maintain infection control, medication safety, and adherence to hospital policies and unit guidelines

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience (as listed in the job posting)
• Chemo certification preferred (candidates with chemo experience will be considered first)
• Experience with Cerner EMR is a plus
• Team player mindset with strong communication and patient advocacy skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and best practices
• IV chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Patient assessment and documentation skills
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR (charting, med administration, care plans)
• Familiarity with common unit procedures (thoracentesis support, echoes, pelvic exams)
• Ability to manage typical med-surg equipment and patient ratios (~1:4 or 1:5)
