Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria to ensure excellent outcomes
• Provide expert post-operative open heart and telemetry nursing care, including chest tube and drain management
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, recognize changes, and respond promptly to patient needs
• Deliver pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access
• Operate and troubleshoot non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and high-flow oxygen delivery systems
• Assist with chest tube removal and removal of pericardial pacing wires as indicated
• Manage temporary pacers, including pericardial and transcutaneous pacing devices
• Plan, direct and teach non-RN staff (LPN, PCT, Unit Secretaries) to maintain a safe, efficient unit

Qualifications

• 2+ years of nursing experience — required
• Post-operative open heart care experience — required
• Chest tube and drain management experience — required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation — required
• Pre- and post-procedure care for radial and femoral access — required
• Active Ohio RN license (or Compact RN) with Nursys verification — required
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications — required
• Skills checklist current within 1 year, pertinent to Telemetry — required [DOCUMENT]
• Ability to float to units within your scope of practice — required
• Critical care experience — highly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring expertise
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and response
• Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities
• Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) operation and troubleshooting
• High-flow oxygen and other oxygen delivery systems
• Temporary pacer and pericardial/transcutaneous pacing device management
• Clinical judgment, care planning, and patient assessment
• Delegation and teaching of non-RN staff
• Familiarity with MediTech EMR
