Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care for patients from birth through geriatrics, following physician orders
- Operate, monitor and maintain ventilators and other respiratory equipment including Vapotherm and PAP devices
- Perform arterial, capillary and venous blood collection and operate ABG instruments for blood gas analysis
- Administer inhaled medications and prescribed gases safely and document treatments accurately
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop treatment plans per RT evaluation and protocol, and adjust therapies as indicated
- Serve as a clinical resource: assist with decision-making, collaborate with physicians and the care team, and verify orders in the EMR
- Perform EKGs on order and ensure accurate, timely documentation of procedures, supplies and critical values
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (listed as required)
- Minimum 2+ years of respiratory care experience as stated in the job description
- Proven ability to operate mechanical ventilators and deliver oxygen therapy and PAP therapies
- Skilled in arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and arterial/capillary/venous blood collection
- Experience administering inhaled medications and using Vapotherm devices
- Comfortable with EMR documentation and verifying physician orders prior to treatment
- Able to work blocks of 3 day shifts (07:00 AM - 07:30 PM) and provide reliable clinical coverage
Knowledge & Skills
- Respiratory care and mechanical ventilation best practices
- ABG interpretation and blood gas analysis
- Ventilator operation, oxygen therapy and Vapotherm/PAP equipment
- Medication administration for inhaled therapies
- Patient assessment across the lifespan (neonatal to geriatric)
- EKG performance and basic cardiac rhythm recognition
- EMR documentation and physician order verification
- Equipment setup, maintenance and supply management
