Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care for critically ill adults and children in the ICU and pediatric settings
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory therapies, adjusting settings and performing assessments as needed
• Perform respiratory assessments, ABG interpretation, and develop individualized care plans
• Document all patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — physicians, nurses, and therapists — to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to other like units as needed to meet facility demands and maintain coverage
• Respond quickly to respiratory emergencies and participate in airway management
• Support a safe, compassionate environment for patients and families during critical care episodes

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in critical care/ICU settings
• Comfortable and experienced caring for both adult and pediatric ICU patients
• Proven ability to float between units and cover weekends/holidays
• Proficiency with Epic charting highly preferred
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Must comply with facility travel rules (locals within a 50-mile radius of the main campus are not accepted for this traveler role)

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent
• RRT credential

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced ventilator management and weaning strategies
• Critical care patient assessment and intervention
• Pediatric respiratory care principles and pediatric ventilator management
• Arterial blood gas interpretation and clinical application
• Strong Epic documentation skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and crisis resource management
