Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in condition promptly
- Assist with safe transfers, mobility, and positioning to promote comfort and dignity
- Support mealtime needs, feeding assistance, and appropriate documentation of intake
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Communicate clearly with nursing staff and family members to ensure coordinated care
- Contribute to individualized care plans by observing and reporting resident preferences and behaviors
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks required by the role
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care and ADL assistance
- Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection control and patient safety practices
- Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills
- Basic charting and documentation abilities
- Compassion, patience, and respect for resident dignity
