Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage individualized oncology care plans to keep patients on track
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients undergoing active cancer treatment
- Perform administrative navigation duties including scheduling, referrals and follow-up
- Document thoroughly in EPIC to ensure clear communication across the care team
- Monitor and support chemotherapy administration processes and infusion safety
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, symptom management and port care
- Identify and escalate oncologic emergencies quickly and effectively
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to remove barriers to care and improve outcomes
Qualifications
- Active RN license in California (pending licenses are not accepted)
- ONCC or ONS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of oncology nursing experience (2 years will be screened)
- Chemotherapy administration experience and chemo certification preferred
- BLS required; experience with IV therapy, central line/port care, and blood product administration
- Proficiency with EPIC charting and electronic documentation
- Willingness to accept an administrative-focused Nurse Navigator role
- Commitment to a 26-week contract for travelers
Knowledge & Skills
- Oncology nursing and chemotherapy administration best practices
- IV therapy, continuous infusion management and oral chemotherapy oversight
- Central line and port care, plus administration of blood and blood products
- Recognition and management of oncologic emergencies (e.g., TLS, sepsis, extravasation)
- Symptom management including neuropathy, nausea/vomiting and neutropenic precautions
- Strong patient navigation, care coordination and communication skills
- EPIC charting and electronic health record workflows
- Patient education, triage and interdisciplinary collaboration
