Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage individualized oncology care plans to keep patients moving smoothly through treatment
• Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, families and multidisciplinary teams to improve the care experience
• Document care, follow-ups and care plans accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity and clear communication
• Identify and escalate oncologic emergencies and collaborate with the clinical team to ensure rapid, appropriate responses
• Provide symptom assessment and management support, educating patients on side-effect mitigation and when to seek care
• Facilitate access to resources, referrals and community supports to remove barriers to care
• Support port and central line care coordination and communicate needs with infusion teams and providers

Qualifications

• Active RN (Registered Nurse) license for California required (pending state licenses not accepted)
• ONCC or ONS certification required
• 3+ years oncology nursing experience preferred (2 years will be screened)
• BLS required; chemotherapy certification preferred
• Comfortable charting in EPIC and managing administrative navigation duties
• Able to commit to a 26-week contract; locals and travel candidates accepted
• COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Education

• Active RN license (Registered Nurse)

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing fundamentals and patient navigation expertise
• Chemotherapy administration knowledge, including continuous and oral chemo monitoring
• IV therapy, infusion familiarity and port/central line care
• Neutropenic precautions and symptom management for treatment-related side effects
• Recognition and early management of oncologic emergencies (sepsis, hemorrhage, extravasation, etc.)
• Strong communication, care coordination and patient education skills
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and clinical documentation
