Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled therapeutic interventions and assist patients in achieving functional goals
• Implement treatment plans under the supervision of the physical therapist with attention to safety and efficacy
• Assist patients with mobility, transfers, gait training and therapeutic exercises
• Document patient progress clearly and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and strategies to maximize recovery
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and support staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
• Maintain therapy equipment and a clean, organized treatment area
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient satisfaction efforts

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted Virginia Physical Therapist Assistant license (required)
• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Comfortable with electronic documentation and basic rehab equipment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills and a patient-centered attitude
• Ability to pass facility background checks and required screenings

Education

• Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant (AAS) from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise, modalities and functional mobility training
• Experience with gait training, transfers and assistive device coaching
• Proficient with patient assessment and progress documentation
• Good clinical reasoning and ability to follow established care plans
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients and multidisciplinary teams
