Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing function using evidence-based tools
• Develop individualized treatment plans and meaningful goals to help patients regain function
• Provide skilled direct therapy and dysphagia management for patients in a rehab setting
• Document progress clearly and timely in the patient record to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists and case managers to coordinate comprehensive care
• Educate patients and families on therapy strategies, safe swallowing techniques and home carryover
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and discharge planning to maximize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Maryland SLP licensure required or eligible to obtain prior to start
• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent)
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred
• Experience in adult rehabilitation or post-acute care is a plus
• Strong documentation and communication skills; comfortable using EHR systems

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in clinical swallowing evaluation and treatment (dysphagia management)
• Knowledge of cognitive-communication assessment and therapy
• Ability to write measurable goals and produce concise, clinical documentation
• Proven teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Comfortable with adaptive/augmentative communication strategies and compensatory techniques
• Familiarity with rehab-focused therapy approaches and discharge planning
