Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Measure and record vital signs and report changes in condition promptly
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention practices during daily routines
- Document care accurately and communicate observations to the care team
- Follow infection prevention and safety protocols to protect residents
- Engage residents in meaningful interactions to promote dignity and quality of life
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to support care plans
Qualifications
- Valid GNA certification or state-recognized equivalent (required)
- Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or required per facility)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric support preferred
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Physical ability to assist with resident transfers and mobility
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and elder dignity
- Competence in ADLs, basic patient hygiene, and assisted mobility
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Basic documentation skills and clear communication with clinical staff
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with residents
