Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and feeding
• Measure and record vital signs and report changes in condition promptly
• Support safe mobility and fall prevention practices during daily routines
• Document care accurately and communicate observations to the care team
• Follow infection prevention and safety protocols to protect residents
• Engage residents in meaningful interactions to promote dignity and quality of life
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to support care plans

Qualifications

• Valid GNA certification or state-recognized equivalent (required)
• Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or required per facility)
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric support preferred
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
• Physical ability to assist with resident transfers and mobility

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and elder dignity
• Competence in ADLs, basic patient hygiene, and assisted mobility
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
• Basic documentation skills and clear communication with clinical staff
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with residents
