Roles & Responsibilities
- Obtain and document vital signs and patient histories accurately using Epic
- Prepare patients for exams, room patients, and assist clinicians during procedures
- Collect and properly label specimens (throat, urine UA/clean catch, venipuncture)
- Administer injections and immunizations, and perform blood glucose testing via glucometer
- Perform TB test administration and follow-up as needed
- Handle telephone triage, pharmacy refill requests, and follow-up phone calls with professionalism
- Assist with suture removal and basic office procedures within your scope
- Maintain accurate charting in Epic and support clinic workflow to enhance patient care
Qualifications
- MA-C (Medical Assistant - Certified) required; MA-R not accepted for this role
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of prior healthcare experience (first-timers with relevant training considered)
- Proven experience with Epic charting and healthcare terminology
- Experience in adult outpatient clinic settings preferred (Cardiology clinic experience a plus)
- Reliable transportation and ability to meet a 50-mile local preference
- Willingness to float within skillset to meet facility needs when required
Education
- Medical Assistant certification (MA-C) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Epic electronic health record proficiency
- Obtaining and documenting vital signs, hearing and vision screening
- Specimen collection, labeling, and basic laboratory test administration
- Venipuncture and preparing specimens for testing
- Administering injections and immunizations; TB test administration
- Blood glucose testing via glucometer
- Telephone triage, patient follow-up calls, and pharmacy refill coordination
- Rooming patients, recording medications/allergies, and assisting with procedures
