Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents to support their dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly
• Accurately document care provided and observations in the resident record
• Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans and promote positive outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
• State GNA certification or eligibility for Maryland is preferred
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility immunization requirements
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident care best practices
• Basic vital signs and observational skills within GNA scope
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
• Good documentation and time-management skills
• Comfort working with older adults, including those with dementia or mobility challenges
• Teamwork mindset and ability to follow care plans and directions from licensed staff
