Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients’ speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing needs using evidence-based assessments
- Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable goals that improve communication and swallowing function
- Provide direct therapy, monitor progress, and adjust interventions to maximize patient outcomes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and family to ensure coordinated, person-centered care
- Document thoroughly and timely in the medical record to meet regulatory and facility standards
- Educate patients, families, and staff on communication strategies, dysphagia management and safe swallowing techniques
- Participate in team meetings, care planning, and quality improvement initiatives to elevate service delivery
Qualifications
- California Speech-Language Pathology license (or eligible and willing to obtain)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Experience working with pediatric and/or adult populations in clinic or facility settings preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning and patient-centered communication skills
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as required by facility
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in SLP assessment tools and evidence-based intervention strategies
- Knowledge of dysphagia evaluation and management
- Proficient documentation and progress-tracking in electronic health records
- Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with patients, families and care teams
- Ability to adapt therapy to individual needs and to coach caregivers effectively
