Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, helping with daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting while preserving dignity
- Monitor and record resident conditions, vital signs and any changes in behavior
- Communicate clearly with nurses and interdisciplinary team about resident needs
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Contribute to a positive, home-like environment and engage residents in meaningful activities
- Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to keep residents safe
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (state-approved geriatric nursing assistant) or equivalent required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Proof of required immunizations and clear background check
- Comfortable assisting with mobility tasks and performing physical care duties
- Reliable, compassionate, and great at communicating with residents and team members
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and senior-focused best practices
- Basic knowledge of vital signs, reporting changes, and documentation
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a patient, respectful approach
- Ability to follow care plans and work collaboratively with nursing staff
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
