Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the surgical services team to deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care
- Oversee daily operations of surgical services, ensuring efficient workflows and patient-centered processes
- Supervise staff and delegate duties to maintain high standards of care and operational efficiency
- Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing and ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
- Implement short- and long-term solutions to operational challenges and clinical issues
- Maintain composure and direct appropriate immediate responses during true emergencies
- Support staff development through coaching, mentoring and performance feedback
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and proper handling of hazardous materials
Qualifications
- Current California RN license (required)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
- Bachelor degree or equivalent (required)
- Minimum of 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required)
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
- CNOR certification (preferred)
- One year of Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU) experience (preferred)
- Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience (preferred)
- Strong written and oral English communication skills (required)
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor degree or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing and circulating RN expertise
- Surgical services management and operational oversight
- Staff supervision, delegation and team leadership
- Patient-centered care and post-anesthesia knowledge
- Emergency response, crisis composure and triage coordination
- Problem identification, root cause analysis and implementation of solutions
- Clear verbal and written communication with multidisciplinary teams
- Awareness of regulatory and safety practices related to hazardous materials
