Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the supervising physical therapist in delivering individualized patient care and therapy
- Implement treatment plans, lead therapeutic exercises and support mobility and gait training
- Document patient progress and treatment details clearly and timely in the electronic medical record
- Educate patients and families on home exercises, safety and functional independence
- Operate therapy equipment and modalities safely to support patient outcomes
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized treatment area and follow infection control practices
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted Physical Therapist Assistant license in California (required)
- Graduation from an accredited PTA program
- BLS or CPR certification preferred or must obtain upon hire
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
- Ability to lift, assist, and safely transfer patients as required by the position
- Valid identification and ability to complete required employment health screenings
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- California PTA licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of therapeutic exercise, functional mobility and basic modalities
- Proficiency with documentation and charting in electronic medical records
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and safe patient handling techniques
- Comfort working with adult and geriatric populations in an outpatient setting
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time and work well in a fast-paced clinic
