Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality respiratory care and life-support interventions to patients across age groups
- Manage mechanical ventilators, oxygen therapy, and airway support with precision
- Perform and interpret arterial blood gases and adjust therapy accordingly
- Lead and participate in neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and emergency response as needed
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the care team to optimize patient outcomes
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in the medical record
- Maintain required certifications and ensure all compliance documentation is current
- Uphold facility policies, including a strict attendance standard to ensure reliable patient coverage
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — required
- Minimum 2 years of RRT experience — required
- Active Michigan state license at time of submission — required
- BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NRP — required and current
- Travel experience — preferred
- Willingness to comply with facility attendance policy (three-strike policy effective 2024-06-01)
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on ventilator management and non-invasive ventilation strategies
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
- Neonatal resuscitation and pediatric respiratory support skills
- Strong emergency response and airway management techniques
- Clear patient and family education skills with compassionate communication
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
- Infection control best practices and safety-focused care delivery
