Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare, organize, and maintain surgical instruments and specialty CVOR equipment to ensure smooth procedures
• Support CVOR procedures (CABG, valve repairs/replacements, TAVR, etc.) with sterile technique and precision
• Assist the surgical team during operations, anticipating needs and maintaining a safe sterile field
• Document perioperative care and case details in Meditech EMR accurately and timely
• Participate in on-call rotations (night and weekend) and respond professionally when needed
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and techs to promote efficient workflow and excellent patient care
• Adhere to unit guidelines, infection control policies, and safety protocols at all times

Qualifications

• CVOR CST experience required (candidates without CVOR CST experience will not be considered)
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent experience/title reflected in the role
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR for perioperative documentation
• Proven competency with surgical instruments and perioperative/sterile technique
• Ability to work a 4x10 schedule and participate in on-call rotations (one night/week and one weekend/month)
• Strong teamwork skills, reliable attendance, and flexibility with schedule changes

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise with CVOR procedures and cardiac surgical instrumentation (bovie, EVH/laparoscopic towers, IABP/Impella consoles, cryo systems, patient warming/cooling systems)
• Solid perioperative sterile technique and instrument handling
• Meditech EMR navigation and accurate perioperative charting
• Excellent communication and collaboration within an OR team
• Detail-oriented approach to case setup, counts, and post-op turnover
