Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for neuro PCU patients
- Perform thorough neurological assessments and communicate changes promptly
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and accurately
- Monitor telemetry and hemodynamic status, escalating concerns to the team
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary staff to support recovery
- Document patient care clearly and timely in the electronic medical record
- Support patient and family education with compassion and clarity
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the required state (or compact license where accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience (PCU, neuro, or progressive care preferred)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications per facility policy
- Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort managing higher-acuity patients
- Ability to work independently during night shifts while collaborating with the care team
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of neuro assessment and progressive care unit protocols
- Skilled in patient monitoring, recognizing subtle neurologic changes
- Proficient with medication administration and safe documentation practices
- Critical thinking and prioritization in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Clear communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
