Roles & Responsibilities

• Verify and dispense medications accurately to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes
• Perform IV sterile compounding with meticulous attention to aseptic technique
• Dose antimicrobials (vancomycin, aminoglycosides) and anticoagulants according to protocols and patient needs
• Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians, including oversight of Pyxis and first-dose checks
• Use Dose Edge and Pak Edge systems to verify compounded preparations and maintain compliance
• Conduct pain consults and collaborate with the care team to optimize pain management plans
• Document clinical interventions and medication activities in the Meditech EMR
• Participate in unit-based initiatives to improve medication safety and workflow efficiency

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Pharmacy School (required)
• Licensed to practice Pharmacy in MO (active MO license required)
• Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience (as specified)
• Competency in IV sterile compounding and medication verification
• Experience with Dose Edge, Pyxis and Pak Edge preferred
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred
• ACLS and BLS preferred
• NICU experience is a plus

Education

• Degree from an accredited Pharmacy School

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication verification and safe dispensing practices
• IV sterile compounding workflows and aseptic technique
• Antimicrobial dosing (vancomycin, aminoglycosides) and anticoagulant dosing
• Supervising and coaching pharmacy technicians
• Experience with Dose Edge, Pyxis, Pak Edge and Meditech EMR
• Strong communication, teamwork and clinical documentation skills
• Ability to perform medication-related consultations, including pain management
