Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional, high-acuity critical care to adult ICU patients including post-CABG and cardiac transplant cases
• Manage ventilators and deliver advanced respiratory support for mechanically ventilated patients
• Perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring and titrate therapies in collaboration with intensivists
• Support ECMO and other advanced cardiac therapies as required by the unit
• Deliver thorough bedside shift reports and maintain up-to-date whiteboard communication for the team
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech and adhere to unit policies and protocols
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Serve patients with professionalism, compassion, and a strong focus on patient safety and outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary license not accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU/critical care experience (CVICU or cardiac ICU experience preferred)
• BLS and ACLS required; current CPR certification required
• Demonstrated experience with ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Proven skill in hemodynamic monitoring and post-CABG/cardiac post-op care
• Experience with ECMO, heart transplant, or CVICU care is a strong plus
• Meditech experience preferred
• Comfortable working in a very high acuity unit and able to float to other ICUs or PCU when needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced cardiac and critical care assessment skills
• Ventilator management and respiratory therapy collaboration
• Hemodynamic monitoring and vasoactive medication management
• Post-operative cardiac care including CABG and transplant patient needs
• Familiarity with ECMO support and high-acuity protocols
• Proficient documentation habits, ideally using Meditech
• Strong bedside communication including shift-to-shift handoff and whiteboard updates
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
