Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor medical-surgical patients, using keen clinical judgment to spot changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately
• Perform NIHSS assessments and apply stroke scale protocols when indicated
• Provide compassionate patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate effective, patient-centered care
• Respond promptly to clinical emergencies and follow BLS protocols
• Participate in Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist processes
• Maintain thorough and timely electronic documentation and contribute to quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with verification required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• NIHSS certification or demonstrated competency
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as required
• Ability to pass required pre-employment screenings and health requirements (Fit Test, Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, physical/health statement)
• Comfort working in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment and delivering high-quality bedside care

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Strong patient assessment and clinical observation skills
• Proficiency with BLS and emergency response procedures
• Familiarity with NIHSS stroke assessment
• Competency through Trinity skills and specialty testing
• Effective communication and teamwork in interdisciplinary care
