Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor medical-surgical patients, using keen clinical judgment to spot changes in condition
- Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately
- Perform NIHSS assessments and apply stroke scale protocols when indicated
- Provide compassionate patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate effective, patient-centered care
- Respond promptly to clinical emergencies and follow BLS protocols
- Participate in Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist processes
- Maintain thorough and timely electronic documentation and contribute to quality improvement efforts
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with verification required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NIHSS certification or demonstrated competency
- Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as required
- Ability to pass required pre-employment screenings and health requirements (Fit Test, Trinity 10 Panel Drug Screen, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, physical/health statement)
- Comfort working in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment and delivering high-quality bedside care
Knowledge & Skills
- Medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
- Strong patient assessment and clinical observation skills
- Proficiency with BLS and emergency response procedures
- Familiarity with NIHSS stroke assessment
- Competency through Trinity skills and specialty testing
- Effective communication and teamwork in interdisciplinary care
