Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-quality patient care for medical/surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge
- Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment including ventilators, A-lines, central lines, chest tubes, and multiple IV pumps
- Perform thorough patient assessments and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision
- Serve as a clinical leader on the unit and assist with precepting new staff and nursing students
- Coordinate discharge planning and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Delegate and provide direction to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and support staff to ensure safe, efficient patient care
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN licensure (required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- PALS, EPNC, TNCC certifications (preferred)
- Experience practicing in an advanced medical/surgical unit with recent critical care nursing experience (required)
- Proven ability to operate ventilators and manage invasive lines and multiple IV pumps
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
- Comfort with precepting and acting as a clinical resource for the team
Education
- Degree from an accredited Nursing Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Direct patient care and critical care nursing principles
- Advanced patient monitoring and ventilatory support
- Management of central lines, A‑lines, chest tubes, and multiple IV pumps
- Patient assessment, discharge planning, and clinical leadership
- Familiarity with advanced medical equipment and inpatient unit workflows
- Ability to collaborate with providers, charge nurses, and leadership
