Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy Department and ensure high-quality patient care
- Supervise, mentor, and directly oversee certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians
- Lead the clinical education and competency process for OT staff to maintain best practices
- Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical practice) with skilled, evidence-based interventions
- Develop, update, and enforce OT policies and procedures that define scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, documentation, and discharge planning
- Ensure regulatory compliance with state practice acts, board requirements, and professional standards
- Oversee documentation and discharge planning to promote safe, efficient transitions of care
- Support program development and perform administrative tasks as assigned (roughly 20% of role)
Qualifications
- Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
- Current California OT license issued by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance (required)
- Ability to function in accordance with the California State Practice Act and department standards
- Experience supervising COTAs and rehabilitation support staff (leadership and oversight skills)
- Possess any additional qualifications recommended by the California Therapy Board and Rehabilitation Services Department
- Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) preferred
Education
- Graduate of an AOTA approved Occupational Therapy program (required)
