Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare procedure rooms and equipment to ensure safe, efficient care for every patient
- Perform timely patient prep, obtain and review charts, labs and consents before procedures
- Provide focused pre- and post-procedure monitoring and systems assessments
- Circulate during procedures and assist physicians in diagnostic and interventional cases
- Accurately document procedures and handoffs in real time using MacLab/CardioLab
- Administer procedural sedation and monitor patient responses per hospital policy
- Adhere to safety protocols including Full Stop/Time Out processes for every case
- Participate in precepting new staff and contribute to continuous team learning
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
- Experience in Cath Lab, ICU, CVICU or IMC strongly preferred; new grads and med/surg-only experience not considered
- Proven ability to circulate independently during cardiovascular and EP procedures
- Comfortable with real-time electronic documentation (MacLab/CardioLab) and procedural logs
- Strong communication skills for effective handoffs and teamwork in fast-paced labs
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Associate Degree in Nursing acceptable with requirement to obtain BSN within 36 months if not already earned
- Or graduate from an accredited Nursing Diploma program
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology nursing practices and procedural workflows
- Patient monitoring, hemodynamics and systems assessment for pre/post-procedure care
- Familiarity with X-ray fluoroscopy, intra-cardiac ultrasound and 3D mapping systems
- Device procedures knowledge (pacemaker/ICD), structural heart procedures like TAVR and LAAO
- Interventional neurology procedures awareness (carotid stenting, stroke thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling, TCAR)
- Proficiency in procedural sedation, sterile technique, and adherence to safety/time-out protocols
