Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care nursing for adult ICU patients
- Monitor and interpret complex physiological data, responding quickly to changes
- Administer medications, manage ventilators and other advanced life support devices as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Perform thorough patient assessments and develop/tailor individualized care plans
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record
- Participate in unit-based competency testing, skills checks and quality improvement initiatives
- Serve as a patient and family educator and advocate during critical illness
Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered RN license (IA licensure preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- TNCC and NIHSS certification required or willing to obtain
- Completion of license/certificate verification and Trinity specialty competency testing
- Readiness to complete fit testing, background and drug screening per policy
- Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings (Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA)
- Ability to provide a completed physical/health statement as part of onboarding
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical care assessment and monitoring skills
- Experience with ventilator management and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Proficiency in medication administration and titration in ICU settings
- Comfortable with rapid response, code and emergency interventions
- Competence using electronic health records and clinical documentation
- Excellent communication, teamwork and patient advocacy skills
- Infection prevention, PPE use and adherence to safety protocols
- Ability to learn and demonstrate facility-specific competencies quickly
