Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night shift, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM; nights with every other weekend (overnight schedule)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality orthopedic nursing care for post-op and medical-surgical patients
- Assess and monitor patients using clinical judgment and timely documentation in Cerner EMR
- Perform routine procedures including dressing changes, suture/staple removal, Foley catheter and NG tube care
- Manage wound vac maintenance and removal when needed
- Use patient lifts and mobility equipment safely to support patient mobility and reduce injury risk
- Collaborate with surgeons, therapists, case managers and the care team to plan and deliver individualized care
- Educate patients and families on post-op care, discharge instructions and mobility/safety at home
- Support unit workflow and staffing needs, including floating to other med-surg units as required
Qualifications
- Active NC Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (orthopedics or med-surg experience preferred)
- Comfortable and experienced with orthopedic post-op care and common procedures
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR or willingness to adapt quickly
- Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend with a team-player attitude
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic post-operative care and mobility protocols
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
- Skillful in wound care, Foley and NG tube management, and dressing changes
- Experience using lifts and assistive devices (Sara Stedy, Maxi Move, Sky lifts, etc.)
- Ability to manage typical patient ratios and prioritize care in a fast-paced environment
- Clear communication, clinical documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration
