Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for nuclear medicine studies with professionalism and empathy
- Perform high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine scans following established protocols
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot equipment such as dose calibrators, gamma cameras, survey meters, well counters, and thyroid uptake probes
- Ensure radiation safety and proper radiopharmaceutical administration at all times
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and proper PPE practices including lead protection
- Communicate findings and collaborate effectively with radiologists and physicians
- Participate in teaching and instructional activities to support colleagues and learners
- Document procedures and maintain accurate patient and equipment records
Qualifications
- Current Hawaii license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required)
- Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
- One (1) year of nuclear medicine experience preferred (new graduates considered)
- Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, radiopharmaceutical administration, and radiation safety protocols
- Strong critical thinking and clear communication skills with clinical teams
- Ability to safely perform physical tasks including standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, and push/pull up to 50 lbs
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with dose calibrators, gamma cameras, survey meters, well counters, and thyroid uptake probes
- Experience with radiopharmaceutical handling and administration
- Solid understanding of radiation safety principles and PPE use
- Equipment operation and basic troubleshooting skills
- Patient preparation and compassionate care across the lifespan
- Effective communication with radiologists, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
- Comfort using computers and standard department software
- Ability to teach and mentor students or peers
