Roles & Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize clinical applications in coordination with Clinical Application Coordinators and IT — keep tools working smoothly for care teams
- Manage user accounts and permissions within clinical systems to ensure the right people have the right access
- Design and deliver engaging training using classroom, one-on-one, remote shadowing and virtual methods so staff feel confident using the EHR
- Develop clear, practical training materials and job aids that make learning easier and faster
- Triage user issues and collaborate with Help Desk, PC Technicians, Network Admins, Coders and clinical leaders to resolve them
- Update clinical content — labs, radiology, meds, immunizations, and codes — to reflect current best practices
- Assess decision support and clinical content continuously and recommend improvements that enhance patient care
- Evaluate and align clinical workflows across clinics to improve efficiency and consistency
- Support implementations and be available outside regular hours when needed to meet project deadlines
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire: must have applied for Alaska license prior to start; agency staff: active Alaska license required)
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in a medical setting, with clinical experience preferred
- At least 2 years of experience working with clinical information systems
- Minimum 1 year experience with computer technology (programming, installation, reporting or hardware)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- BSN preferred; advanced degree(s) may substitute for experience on a year-by-year basis
- Experience with HL7 messaging, inpatient clinical settings, teaching/training, and accreditation processes preferred
- Ability and willingness to travel (~10%) and to work outside regular hours for implementations/support
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- BSN preferred
- Advanced degree(s) may substitute for required experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and ancillary clinical systems
- Familiarity with clinical content configuration, medical decision support and HL7 messaging
- Knowledge of scheduling, radiology, laboratory and document scanning systems
- Solid interpersonal, written and oral communication skills for interacting with diverse clinical and IT teams
- Proven problem-solving skills and good judgment in clinical-IT contexts
- Experience collaborating with IT staff, vendors, and multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Comfort creating reports and working with computer systems to troubleshoot and optimize workflows
