Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist, delivering therapeutic procedures and modalities with compassion and skill
- Use assistive devices and hands-on techniques to restore muscle strength, range of motion, coordination, mobility, and body alignment
- Implement individualized treatment plans to reduce pain and improve functional movement and activities of daily living
- Document patient progress accurately and communicate changes to the supervising PT to ensure continuity of care
- Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, use of assistive devices, and strategies to support recovery and prevent reinjury
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered outcomes and efficient clinic operations
- Maintain compliance with the State Practice Act and clinic policies to ensure safe, ethical practice
Qualifications
- Valid California License to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA) — required
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program — required
- Comfortable performing therapeutic procedures, modalities, and using assistive devices
- Ability to follow treatment plans under PT supervision and clearly document patient care
Education
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient care best practices with a focus on functional outcomes
- Therapeutic procedures and modalities used in physical rehabilitation
- Safe use of assistive devices and mobility training
- Restore range of motion and muscle strength with evidence-based techniques
- Pain management strategies and activity modification
- Strong communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
