Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the SEARHC Infection Prevention & Control Program to meet regulatory and evidence-based standards
- Collect, analyze, and report healthcare-associated infection (HAI) data, including timely NHSN and regulatory submissions
- Develop, update, and implement policies and procedures that align with CDC, OSHA, CMS, FDA, TJC and APIC guidance
- Provide engaging education and training for staff, patients, families, and communities on infection prevention best practices
- Chair the Infection Prevention Committee and collaborate across clinical, administrative, and public health partners
- Conduct site visits across the consortium to assess compliance, provide mentorship, and support continuous improvement
- Oversee Employee Health program activities and ensure competency validation for clinical staff
Qualifications
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Direct hires must have applied for an Alaska license prior to start; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license)
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field required (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology or similar); Master’s degree (MPH, MSN) preferred
- Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (current within 3 months of hire and maintained thereafter)
- Minimum 3 years of acute care/infection control and/or data collection and performance improvement/risk management experience
- Supervisory/managerial experience preferred; long-term care experience a plus
- Clinical and manager competency assessments to be completed within required timeframes
Education
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or related healthcare field (required)
- Master’s degree (MPH, MSN) preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent (minimum education baseline noted in posting)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of epidemiology, infectious diseases, and HAI surveillance
- Experience with NHSN reporting and regulatory compliance (CDC, OSHA, CMS, FDA, TJC)
- Skilled in data collection, statistical analysis, trending, and interpretation
- Proficient with MS Office and database applications for reporting and record-keeping
- Policy development and implementation skills with an ability to translate evidence into practice
- Excellent communication skills for multicultural audiences and health literacy considerations
- Project management and performance improvement methodology experience
