Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced Emergency Department
• Deliver high-acuity nursing care using critical thinking during STEMI, stroke, and trauma responses
• Perform and assist with procedures such as intubation, conscious sedation, chest tube care, and laceration repair
• Administer emergency medications and specialty infusions, including antivenom when needed
• Document patient care efficiently in Meditech Expanse to maintain continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and support staff to coordinate timely, patient-centered care
• Support unit operations as a dependable team member and step into charge responsibilities when required
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to a culture of safety, compassion, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure appropriate for practice (state requirements apply)
• 3+ years recent Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications required
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shift schedules and working every other weekend
• Experience with Meditech Expanse or similar EMR preferred
• Strong critical thinking, multitasking, and communication skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Department workflows and triage processes
• STEMI and Stroke protocol activation and management
• Airway management and advanced life support skills
• Conscious sedation, intubation, chest tube management, and laceration repair
• Familiarity with Phillips monitors, Lifepak defibrillators, and bedside troubleshooting
• Orthopedic splinting and basic procedural skills
• Accurate, timely documentation in electronic medical records (Meditech Expanse)
• Team leadership and the ability to function as charge when needed
