Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality telemetry nursing care on a 44-bed general surgery unit, monitoring and managing cardiac rhythms
• Manage an assigned patient load of 6-7 patients with safety, clinical judgment, and compassion
• Administer and manage therapies such as TPN, PCA, IV antibiotics, and heparin drips with meticulous documentation
• Perform and troubleshoot procedures including wound vac care, tube feeds, NG tubes, ostomy care, and urinary catheter management
• Collaborate with the charge nurse, providers, unit secretary, and CNA team to coordinate outstanding patient care
• Document care accurately in Cerner EMR and use electronic systems for medication and pump management
• Respond to post-operative needs and care for a variety of surgical populations including urology and bowel patients
• Maintain a positive, engaging presence on the unit to support patients and teammates in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, med-surg or telemetry preferred
• Telemetry competency required
• BLS certification required
• Experience with urology and bowel care strongly preferred
• Comfort managing 6-7 patients depending on the shift
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Baxter IV pumps is a plus
• Ability to work nights and meet weekend scheduling needs

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• Current RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• TPN administration and management
• PCA programming and pain management knowledge
• Wound vac care and dressing management
• Tube feeds, NG tube care, and PEG/ Dobhoff experience
• Ostomy care including colostomies and urostomies
• IV medication administration including IV antibiotics and heparin drips
• Use of Baxter IV pumps and familiarity with Cerner EMR
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced surgical unit
