Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, safe post-anesthesia care for patients recovering from surgery
• Assess and monitor vital signs, airway status, pain levels, and hemodynamic stability
• Manage airway and respiratory needs, including oxygen therapy and monitoring
• Administer medications safely and document responses and interventions
• Communicate effectively with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary team members
• Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record
• Assist with triage and transfer of patients to appropriate levels of care

Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in the assignment state (Texas) or compact nurse privilege
• Minimum 1 year of recent clinical nursing experience (acute care or PACU experience preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or required by facility
• Current CPR certification and up-to-date immunizations per facility policy
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in post-anesthesia patient assessment and recovery monitoring
• Experience with airway management and respiratory support in PACU
• Proficient with IV medication administration and titration
• Comfortable using patient monitoring equipment and electronic health records
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced surgical recovery environment
• Collaborative teamwork and clear communication with multidisciplinary teams
