Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality bedside nursing care to adult cardiac and post-op patients in the CVICU
- Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data, titrate medications, and manage advanced cardiac support safely
- Perform in-depth assessments and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to develop and execute care plans
- Administer medications and blood products accurately, following hospital protocols
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, recovery expectations, and discharge needs
- Document patient care and interventions thoroughly in the electronic health record
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Texas license or compact privilege recommended
- Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU or critical care nursing experience (as listed in the job data)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage post-operative cardiac patients and advanced monitoring devices
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
- Post-operative cardiac care and management of mechanical circulatory support
- Ventilator basics and collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Medication titration for vasoactive infusions and analgesia/sedation management
- Proficient documentation in electronic health records and accurate charting
- Prioritization, triage, and rapid decision-making in high-acuity environments
