Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert neuro nursing care for adult patients, using focused neurological assessments to guide treatment
• Perform NIHSS scoring and rapid stroke assessments to support timely clinical decisions
• Deliver evidence-based interventions including ACLS measures when indicated
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
• Maintain meticulous documentation and ensure accurate license/certification verification
• Participate in Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Skills Checklists to maintain clinical competency
• Support patient and family education about diagnosis, treatment plans and discharge needs
• Comply with infection control, immunization, and occupational health requirements

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (Iowa) required — License/Certificate Verification will be completed
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certification required or must be completed prior to start
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as required by facility
• Successful fit test, Trinity 10-panel drug screen, and up-to-date immunizations (Tdap, COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA)
• Ability to work night shift rotations and deliver compassionate, high-quality neuro care

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neuro assessment skills and familiarity with stroke protocols
• Proficiency with NIHSS stroke scale and emergency response (ACLS) workflows
• Comfortable with bedside critical thinking, rapid triage and escalation
• Detail-oriented documentation and time management
• Experience with competency testing workflows and checklist-driven skill validation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity settings
