Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and act swiftly on rhythm changes
- Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately
- Perform thorough patient assessments and escalate changes in condition
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and aftercare plans
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in the electronic health record
- Participate in required competency testing and skills checklists to maintain excellence
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa (license/certificate verification required)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications as listed
- Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
- Ability to pass Trinity 10 panel drug screen, fit test, and background checks
- Current immunizations per facility policy (COVID-19, Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, PPD/IGRA)
- Prior experience in medical-surgical and telemetry settings preferred
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in cardiac telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Competence with IV therapy and medication administration
- Accurate electronic charting and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to prioritize multiple patients and tasks in a fast-paced setting
- Familiarity with competency testing and skills validation processes
