Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled, compassionate ICU nursing care for critically ill adults and/or pediatrics as assigned
- Assess, monitor, and document patient condition using evidence-based critical care practices
- Administer medications, titrate drips, and manage advanced life support interventions per protocol
- Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
- Respond rapidly and effectively to emergency situations and rapid response events
- Complete required Trinity specialty competency testing and maintain skills checklist documentation
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care
- Adhere to all license, certification, and health screening requirements to maintain safe practice
Qualifications
- Valid RN license for Iowa (license/certificate verification required)
- BLS and ACLS required
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications required as noted
- Current compliance with employer health requirements (fit test, drug screen, immunizations including COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, influenza, TB screening, varicella, Tdap)
- Demonstrated ICU experience preferred (critical care competencies and comfort with ventilators, drips, and rapid assessment)
- Willingness to complete Trinity-specific competency testing and skills checklist
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical care assessment and monitoring skills
- Experience with ventilator management and vasoactive infusions
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
- Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
- Ability to prioritize, triage, and respond in emergency situations
- Commitment to ongoing learning and following specialty-specific competency standards
