Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to cardiovascular surgery patients
• Monitor and assess hemodynamic status and post-operative recovery with attention to detail
• Administer medications and therapies safely, following established protocols
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Perform patient education and discharge planning to support smooth transitions home
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
• Act swiftly in emergencies, drawing on critical thinking and clinical skills to support positive outcomes

Qualifications

• Current RN license (eligible for Texas licensure or compact license holders welcomed)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in cardiovascular surgery or related cardiac OR/ICU care
• BLS certification required; ACLS strongly preferred
• Current basic competencies in surgical and post-operative cardiac care
• Ability to pass facility background checks and drug screening

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of post-op cardiac physiology and hemodynamic monitoring
• Familiarity with cardiac devices, chest tubes, and invasive lines
• Strong EKG interpretation skills and arrhythmia recognition
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond calmly in fast-paced situations
• Proficient clinical documentation and electronic charting
