Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating nights (specific days vary), 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, overnight schedule with every-other-weekend requirement
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered orthopedic nursing care for pre- and post-operative patients
- Perform wound care including dressing changes, wound VAC maintenance and suture/staple removal with precision
- Safely manage and monitor devices such as Foley catheters and NG tubes
- Assess and document vital signs, patient status and interventions accurately in Cerner
- Assist with mobility using patient lift equipment and support safe ambulation
- Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and nursing standards
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families about recovery, discharge planning and home care needs
Qualifications
- Active NC RN license (required)
- BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (orthopedics or med-surg experience preferred)
- Comfortable with wound care, wound VACs, dressing changes, and post-op ortho care
- Experience with Cerner or other electronic medical records preferred
- Ability to work nights and every other weekend; team-player attitude and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic post-operative care and common ortho procedures
- Wound care techniques and wound VAC maintenance
- Foley catheter and NG tube care
- Proficiency documenting in EMR (Cerner preferred)
- Skilled in patient mobilization and use of lift/transfer equipment (Sara Stedy, Maxi Move, etc.)
- Accurate vital signs monitoring and clinical assessment
- Excellent communication, patient education and teamwork skills
