Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, compassionate care to critically ill BMT and oncology ICU patients, handling full total-care duties
- Manage ventilators, BiPAP patients, and titrate drips safely and accurately
- Perform tracheostomy care, dressing changes, and other bedside procedures with attention to detail
- Operate and monitor advanced bedside equipment including A-lines, IV pumps, CRRT, and flow-tracking devices
- Document patient assessments and interventions using Meditech EMR to ensure clear, timely communication
- Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary team members, and support services to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain patient ratios and safety standards on every shift, advocating for patients and supporting families
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to practice in Texas required)
- Minimum 1 year of ICU/critical care nursing experience (strong ICU experience required)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
- Proven experience with ventilator management, titrating drips, and trach care
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR is preferred
- CRRT and transplant experience (kidney, pancreas, liver) are nice-to-have and will make you highly competitive
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care nursing fundamentals and advanced bedside assessment
- Ventilator management and BiPAP patient care
- Drip titration and vasoactive medication management
- Tracheostomy care and airway management
- Use of A-lines, IV pumps, flow-track monitoring, and CRRT
- Meditech EMR documentation and electronic charting
- Strong teamwork, communication, and the ability to build rapport with physicians
