Roles & Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs including pulse oximetry, height/weight, and vision screening
- Perform 12-lead EKGs and prepare results for clinician review
- Prepare exam rooms and position patients, ensuring comfort, privacy, and appropriate draping
- Set up and assist with procedures such as pap smears and aseptic/sterile trays
- Administer injections including intramuscular and intradermal immunizations per protocol
- Collect, label, and process specimens including urine clean catch and point-of-care testing
- Perform routine laboratory testing such as blood glucose checks and urine dipsticks
- Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC, recording histories, medications, allergies, and visit notes
- Make follow-up phone calls and assist with patient communication to close the care loop
- Maintain supplies, assist with chart preparation, and support clinic flow to keep visits running smoothly
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) credential required
- Current Washington medical assistant license in-hand at time of submission
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- At least 6 months of experience as an MA-C in an adult outpatient, general, or family practice setting
- EPIC charting experience required
- Reliable personal transportation required; public transportation is not acceptable
- Local candidates within a 50-mile radius and non-local travelers considered; pending licenses will not be accepted
- First-time travelers not accepted for this role
Education
- Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) - required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with EPIC electronic health record workflows
- Strong skills in vital signs collection, pulse oximetry, and point-of-care testing
- Experience obtaining 12-lead EKGs and performing basic ear lavages
- Competent with specimen collection, labeling, and routine lab testing
- Aseptic technique and assisting with minor procedures including pap smears
- Comfortable administering IM and intradermal injections and vaccinations
- Excellent patient communication, rooming, and follow-up phone call skills
- Organized approach to chart prep, scheduling support, and supply management
