Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients arriving to the Emergency Department quickly and accurately so the team can act fast
• Provide high-quality bedside nursing care including medication administration and monitoring during cardioversion and moderate sedation
• Perform emergency procedures such as TNK administration and manage cardiac patients with appropriate monitoring
• Document patient care thoroughly and efficiently in Meditech to ensure continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with providers, paramedics and support staff to coordinate care and improve outcomes
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans with compassion and clarity
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by participating in the Unit Based Council and daily teamwork efforts

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (Texas)
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience required; 2 years preferred
• Current BLS and ALS certifications
• TNCC and ENPC required or PALS as an acceptable alternative for pediatric competency
• Experience with Meditech or similar EMR preferred
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and scheduled weekends
• Competence with cardioversion, TNK administration and moderate sedation procedures
• Team player with a positive, flexible attitude

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency assessment and triage skills
• Cardiac monitoring and acute care intervention knowledge
• Pediatric emergency care concepts (ENPC/PALS)
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR workflows and documentation best practices
• Ability to manage a typical ED patient ratio of about 4:1
• Excellent communication, time management and teamwork skills
• Adaptability in a busy, community hospital environment
