Shift Type: Rotating shifts with varied starts including weekends; primary shift times: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (day), 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (evening), 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (night). Includes call (1x/week, 8-hour call shifts 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM on weekdays and 8-hour weekend call) and every-other-week (EOW) call coverage. Shift type: rotating (day/evening/night).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and instrumentation so each case runs smoothly
• Maintain a strict sterile field and ensure infection control standards are met
• Pass instruments and supplies efficiently, anticipating the surgeon’s needs
• Perform instrument counts and document accurately for patient safety
• Assist across trauma, orthopedics, vascular, and general surgery cases
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia to deliver excellent care
• Participate in turnover and room setup to maximize OR throughput
• Support quality improvement and adhere to hospital protocols and policies

Qualifications

• NBSTSA certification (required)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent credential
• Prior OR/acute care experience preferred, with exposure to trauma, ortho, vascular, and general cases
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and participate in call rotations
• Professional, team-oriented attitude and strong communication skills
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
• Proficiency with surgical counts and OR documentation
• Familiarity with trauma, orthopedic, vascular, and general surgical procedures
• Ability to anticipate clinician needs and work calmly under pressure
• Good teamwork, communication, and time-management skills
• Basic familiarity with electronic health record documentation preferred
