Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients quickly and comprehensively using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
- Provide direct, patient-centered care in the Emergency Department and Telemetry settings
- Communicate changes in patient condition and diagnostic results clearly and promptly to physicians
- Develop and implement individualized care plans and evaluate outcomes
- Lead and guide patient and family teaching to promote understanding and recovery
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Adhere to EMTALA regulations and report suspected child/adult abuse to appropriate resources
- Complete required competency exams, skills checklists, and specialty screenings to maintain clinical readiness
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to be verified via Nursys)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- NIHSS and DCI/BVP certifications as listed
- Emergency Department and Telemetry experience preferred
- Ability to pass Prime drug screen, skills checklists, and required competency exams
- Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings (TB, COVID-19, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hep B, fit testing, etc.)
- Strong clinical communication skills and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and clinical decision-making
- Care planning, implementation and evaluation
- Direct patient care in acute and telemetry settings
- Patient and family teaching with clear, compassionate communication
- Familiarity with EMTALA and reporting obligations
- Clinical documentation, confidentiality and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Basic rhythm interpretation and emergency pharmacology knowledge
