Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to adult patients, including preventive care and chronic disease management
• Conduct history and physical exams, diagnose conditions, and develop treatment plans
• Prescribe medications and manage medication therapy appropriately
• Coordinate care with nursing staff, specialists, and facility teams to ensure continuity
• Document clinical encounters thoroughly and maintain accurate medical records
• Participate in facility medical staff meetings and quality improvement efforts
• Support a safe, respectful environment while working alongside correctional and medical staff

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required
• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Active or eligible for California medical license
• DEA registration or ability to obtain DEA privileges
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Prior primary care experience required, correctional health experience preferred
• Ability to complete a two-week orientation and work Monday-Friday day shifts

Education

• MD or DO degree and completion of residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong primary care clinical knowledge in adult medicine
• Comfortable managing acute and chronic conditions independently
• Proficient documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a facility setting
• Cultural competence and professional bedside manner
