Roles & Responsibilities

Dispense prescription and non-prescription medications accurately and safely for the Bethel community.
Provide clear, compassionate medication counseling to patients and caregivers, ensuring understanding and adherence.
Perform medication therapy review and clinical interventions to optimize patient outcomes.
Collaborate with prescribers and the healthcare team to resolve medication-related issues and recommend alternatives.
Manage inventory, verify medication orders, and maintain accurate records and regulatory compliance.
Ensure proper documentation, including controlled substance handling and reporting when applicable.

Qualifications

Active Pharmacist license in Alaska or eligibility to obtain Alaska licensure prior to start.
PharmD preferred; BS in Pharmacy considered when paired with strong clinical experience.
Current immunization certification and familiarity with vaccine administration best practices preferred.
DEA registration (or ability to obtain) if role requires controlled substance dispensing.
Strong communication skills and comfort working in a close-knit community healthcare setting.
Professional, patient-focused attitude with commitment to cultural sensitivity and community care.

Education

PharmD preferred; BS in Pharmacy accepted when supported by relevant experience

Knowledge & Skills

Thorough knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, dosing, and medication safety.
Experience with dispensing workflows and pharmacy information systems or electronic medical records.
Ability to conduct medication reconciliation and drug utilization reviews.
Familiarity with state and federal pharmacy regulations and controlled substance policies.
Strong clinical decision-making and patient counseling skills.
Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a community health environment.
